Apprenticeships are an exciting, valuable route for anyone over 16, whatever their aspirations. Some of the country’s biggest, best and most prestigious companies offer apprenticeships across a huge range of job roles. That’s one reason why they’re proving so popular – over 1 million individuals have started apprenticeships since May 2015, with applications in 2016/17 up almost 15% on the previous year.
Apprenticeships offer students the amazing opportunity to gain in-work experience, develop role-specific skills, and to achieve a qualification that employers love – all while earning a wage.
Apprentices are trained primarily in work, and are supported by a training provider. There are currently four levels of apprenticeship available – intermediate, advanced, higher and degree – and qualifications generally take between one and six years to complete. 20% of your paid time will be spent off-the-job, developing skills and furthering your knowledge.
Apprentices are highly employable – 97% of apprentices say their apprenticeship has improved their ability to do their job, and 92% of in-work apprentices said their apprenticeship has had a positive impact on their job and career.
